Hosted by Endowus, we attended ‘Fintechs and VCs in the Hot Seat’, a community event held during the Singapore Fintech Festival 2022. Through this intimate gathering of fintech VCs and Founders, partners and senior members of investment teams at leading global VCs shared how to survive the “funding winter” and their focus for 2023.

This event was broken into 2 panel discussions, the first being a "No Holds Barred" Dialogue with top VC investors. With funding slowdown hitting startups as the spillover from public markets continue, participants gained a deeper understanding as to what it would take to thaw the frozen wallets of VCs and land that funding we need.

In the second panel discussion, we learnt about the tips and tricks employed by fintechs & fintech allies. From the pandemic to lockdowns, and despite the “funding winter”, political upheavals and supply chain disruptions, the accelerated digitalisation has created a bright spark for many fintech companies. M-DAQer Jeremy Sng, GM Corporate Finance & Strategy, contributed his views on what it takes to succeed as a fintech in today’s market. According to Jeremy, “Luck is a huge ingredient for success, but for luck to happen, there must be grit.” We couldn’t agree more!

The night ended on just the right note... depending on how you take your whisky — smoky or sweet? With the unveiling of the Endowus Cocktail and Chita Whisky Tasting, it was a networking session to remember.
